Terms of Service
Welcome to White Rock Handyman & Renovations. By requesting an estimate, booking, or utilizing our handyman and renovation services, you agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.
1. Estimates and Scope of Work
Validity: Written estimates are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
Scope: Only the specific tasks clearly detailed in the written estimate are included in the scope of work. Any additional requests made during the project will require a verbal or written change order and may incur additional charges for labor and materials.
2. Hidden Conditions & Unforeseen Costs
Home renovations and repairs can occasionally reveal hidden structural, electrical, plumbing, or hazardous issues (such as rot, mold, or outdated wiring) that were not visible during the initial estimate.
White Rock Handyman & Renovations is not responsible for pre-existing defects or hidden conditions. If such conditions are discovered, work on that area may stop immediately, and we will consult you with a revised estimate before proceeding.
3. Homeowner Obligations & Property Access
Access: The client must provide clear, safe, and unhindered access to the work area, including a place to store tools and materials if necessary.
Clearance: The client is responsible for clearing the workspace of personal belongings, valuables, and breakables before work begins. We are not liable for accidental damage to items left in the designated work zone.
Permits: Unless explicitly agreed upon in writing, the client is responsible for obtaining and paying for any required municipal permits or strata approvals.
4. Payments, Deposits, and Late Fees
Deposits: A deposit is required to book your project, as we only do one job at a time to ensure maximum focus and quality. Deposits are also required before purchasing specialized materials.
Payment Due: Final payment is due immediately upon completion of the specified work unless prior written arrangements have been made.
Late Payments: Outstanding balances not paid within 7 days of completion may be subject to interest charges or a late fee. We reserve the right to file a mechanics/builders’ lien against the property if payment is unjustly withheld.
5. Limitation of Liability & Warranty
Workmanship: We take great pride in our 37+ years of experience and provide a standard 1-year warranty on our craftsmanship. This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, house settling, or issues caused by client neglect or material defects from manufacturer-supplied parts.
Liability Cap: To the maximum extent permitted by law in British Columbia, our total liability for any claims, damages, or losses arising out of the services provided shall not exceed the total amount paid by the client for those specific services.
6. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada.
